Our client spends a lot of time in Hawaii and loves the tropical landscape there so for the landscape remodel of this business park, he requested that the new landscape reflect that same tropical feeling he loves so much.  However, we informed him that due to the California State water restrictions, that could prove to be challenging.

Our solution was to focus the more water-loving plants directly around the existing water feature, while the exterior landscape and interior courtyards were designed with very drought tolerant plantings.

Along with the colorful, tropical plantings around the water feature, we created new seating areas along a series of stepped waterfalls providing useable spaces for those working there.  A large hedge at the top of the water feature provides not only a visual separation between the tropical and drought tolerant plantings, but also provides screening from the cars using the adjacent road.
