Farm Park | Shafter, CA
The City of Shafter and the Central Valley of California has some of the richest soils for growing the crops that feed the world. With this in mind, WSLA and landscape architect Jim Stebbins (with ISI) prepared the concept and construction drawings for this 2-acre “farm” themed park with both passive and active play opportunity within “row-crops”.
A meandering decomposed granite path cuts through flowering plants placed in rows to speak to the concept of row crops and transitioning to a playground with a barn on which to climb, a realistic tractor, “farm animals” to ride and a swing set that is always full of children playing.
Visit the park to play pickle ball or basketball or just watch while under a centrally located cabana that is elevated above it all or get even closer under the shade of an umbrella that protects a whole family.
A memorial statue of “War Dogs” anchors the entry gates to 2 fenced dog parks with shade over picnic tables allowing you to be cool while experiencing the joys of watching dogs make new friends with the neighborhood dogs
