Veterans Memorial Park | Vista, CA

Veterans Memorial Park provides insight into the emotions between soldiers at war and their families at home through “letters from home”.  Between walls displaying letters from soldiers on either side of the plaza, letters between Ernie Pinamonti and his family are engraved on tiles scattered on the ground across the concrete plaza.  These letters share the family’s and Ernie’s emotional experiences from the time he entered boot camp up to just before he was killed in action with the last letter placed near a sculpture of Ernie sitting near a reflecting pond reading a letter from home.
