Holly Hill Thoroughbred Training Center | South Carolina
After Hurricane Hugo damaged much of the site, Tim Smith was asked to develop a 120 acre master plan (while working at Nowell-Thompson) that would improve upon the efficiency of the day to day training needs as well as create a facility that reflects the high quality of horses such as Secretariat who have trained here.
Included in the master planning process were concept drawings modifying architectural elements of existing barns adapting them to office spaces and meeting centers. Site planning included designing “cool down” rings, show rings, paddocks, veterinary stations, feed and hay storage barns, viewing areas, mental health trails and entertainment spaces.
Shortly after completing the master plan documents, ownership of the center changed hands and the project never materialized.
